Sunny Sunday

I woke up today to gorgeous sunshine, although abit windy it was perfect weather for hanging out some bedding and my new 'old' rose covered eiderdown.....

I persuaded Mr Kitten to get up early (by making alot of noise and wafting freshly made coffee up the stairs) as I wanted to go to an antique fair 50 miles away and wanted an early start. Because of where we live everything is never just down the road. We are classed as a Hamlet as we only have a postbox (no post office), a pub, a church and a village hall. When it was a village it had a shop and a post office but they have now been turned into houses. The nearest village shop is now 3 miles away in one direction or 10 in the other. What we lack in amenities is certainly compensated by the view.....

My house is set back high up from the road accessed by rickety stone stairs. The road is only used by the residents and the farmer, infact two vehicles can't pass each other and as there is no path you have to be careful when the farmer moves the sheep to another field. Why is it sheep dont find it necessary to get a move on when you need to get past? LOL! The house is a small 2 up 2 down terrace cottage with one bathroom built approx 1899. There is still evidence of the outside toilet (which is now used for storage) which would have been shared by the neighbours!! Eeew! Thankfully we do have a toilet indoors now. We don't have a back door as the house has been built on a field. In the summer I love to go and watch the sheep, sometimes they come right up to the back of the house.....

We also see pheasants and rabbits which our cats love to chase and kill, then bring them home for me....Eww!.....

My favourite thing to see is the Peacocks that roam around. It's always a treat to get a snap of one. At the side we have a large garden with a low dry stone wall which also backs onto the fields, because of the position of the house our view out of all the windows is one of beautiful scenery. I particularly love this view in the winter. My house really is the perfect home, unless I win the lottery!! When I was a child I used to draw a double fronted house with a chimney with smoke coming out of it and a long path and a garden under both windows either side of the front door. I even used to draw the curtains in the windows as if they were tied back and spookily that is exactly how my house looks. It was in a 'right old mess' when we bought it 4 years ago and have had to completely gut it and redo everything even down to door frames and skirting boards. I will put some pictures up soon and show you some before and after photos. I suppose Id better go as I have a pile of ironing waiting for me.....

Hope you pop by again soon.....
