Recently Mr Kitten and I spent a couple of days in Scotland. It was only one overnight stay but we really enjoyed just getting away. We stayed in Arrochar which is a village at the head of a beautiful loch called Loch Long.....

This is Arrochar Village and the view of the loch.....

The mountains overlooking the loch are known as the Arrochar Alps and the craggy summit is known as 'The Cobbler' which our hotel we were supposed to be staying at was named after. Unfortunately when we arrived they had overbooked and asked some of us checking in if we wouldn't mind staying at The Arrochar Hotel just up the road (with a part refund thrown in) so Mr Kitten and I said as we were only staying one night we wouldn't mind at all. It worked out quite nice as we ended up getting our hotel room and evening meal for next to nothing. The hotel was okay, but the view from our window was fabulous, the meal was lovely and after a walk around the village to take in the view of the amazing landscape we were entertained by some traditional scottish entertainment.....
We were up early the next morning for a lovely full english breakfast. Why do they always taste so nice? when back home at that early hour of the day I can just about manage a cup of coffee and a croissant. Anyway it was time to drag Mr Kitten off to the village of Luss. I was a big fan of the scottish soap Take the High Road (do any of you remember that?) it was filmed in the village but using the fictional name of Glendarroch.....

It was really strange as the shop that was 'Blairs General Store' in the tv programme is really The Highland Arts Centre.....

I think I bored Mr K with my exclamations of 'Mrs Mac walked down here' or 'Mr Murdoch lived here'..... Im easily excited. The village is on the shores of Loch Lomond and again has amazing views. What a beautiful place to live, although I'm sure the residents are sick and tired of people like me tramping through their once peaceful village who come to see where the series was filmed.....
