We went to St Marys Loch in Scotland for a day out. Shandy our dog came out for the ride too, she loves sitting in the back of the car with her head sticking out the window. She looks so funny when she is windswept.....

The loch is situated between Selkirk and Moffat. It is the largest natural loch in the border region and was formed during the last ice age. I can't tell you enough just how beautiful it is. It was deathly silent apart from a few people in the cafe further along. Standing at the edge of the loch you would have thought we were the only two people on earth.....

Shandy enjoyed jumping in the water, but I didnt like the smell of her drying out in the car on the way home!.....

There is a monument close by dedicated to James Hogg who was an author, poet and songwriter born in 1770 and died in 1835. His most famous book was written in 1824 'The private memoirs and confessions of a justified sinner'..... ooer sounds intriguing. He was born close to the loch and was a friend of Sir Walter Scott.....

After a cup of tea and a cake in the cafe we went a few miles up the road to see The Grey Mares Tail which at 200ft is the 5th largest waterfall in the UK.....

It was amazing. I just love Scotland and hope to move there one day. A little house on the edge of a loch would suit me just fine.....
