Garden Party

Mr Kittens Mum and Dad came to visit today.....

His mum doesnt visit often as she dislikes the car journey especially when she has to come over the moors. They are lovely during the day, but at night it is abit like Wuthering Heights when it's dark and the mist is low on the ground. Mr K's dad was a joiner before he retired so he has been to the house alot while we have been renovating as he made all our internal doors and fitted our barn door, so it is nice that he visited today just to relax. As it was such a lovely day I decided to have a little picnic in the garden. I put out our new cream wrought iron patio furniture and hung out some bunting. I went dainty and posh and used a lovely teaset that had belonged to Mr K's grandmother that his mum gave me the last time I was at their house. Its really pretty with a floral motif. We had sandwiches cut in triangles (with crusts off of course) cheese crisps made from grating equal amounts of cheddar and parmesan and placing a spoonful onto non stick baking parchment and baking for approx 8 minutes. I made a plain almond sponge cake soaked in a rosewater sugar syrup and decorated in the centre with a tiny bunch of primroses and served with clotted cream and a mixture of red berries. I also made some very dainty mini chocolate cream meringues and this was washed down with homemade lemonade. What a lovely way to spend a Saturday afternoon. We should all do this once in awhile, certainly beats doing the shopping!.....
