I've recently redecorated my bedroom (again!!!) so I thought Id share a few photos of the new look room with you, starting with the before.....

I dug out an old picture of how it looked when we bought the house, its not a very good photograph as I had to scan it, but you can see there is a difference between the then photo above and the now shown below.....

It wasnt very nice when we moved in, quite frankly it was PANTS! The cupboard on the left hand side of the 'before' photo had a water tank inside and it was mouldy. The smell of the room was damp and musty, it was awful. We had to live with the room like this for months as we had to have the whole house sprayed for woodworm and floorboards lifted to put in new central heating. We removed the water tank and pulled the cupboard out so we could sort out the damp problem before Mr Kitten built new cupboards. Thankfully it could only get better.....

The cupboards Mr K built.....
In the 4 years we have lived here I have decorated this room 4 times. I could never get it right and I didnt like the room very much, but this wallpaper makes the room feel nice, and now I love being in here.....

The best thing about the room is that I get to wake up to this view every day.....
The pine wardrobe isnt quite right for this room, but it doesnt fit anywhere else as the house is small. I had alot of this pine furniture made to measure years ago for the house I had before I met Mr K (3 houses ago) so it fitted my house perfectly. My next house was larger than my current one so there was space for all of it there, but now we are here its abit too much for the size of the house. I refuse to keep it in the garage because its damp in there and although we did get it up the loft stairs, it took up too much room, so down it came again. I can hear all you 'Shabby Chic' ladies screaming at me to paint it and chip it off, but I can't bring myself to do it. I spent a fortune on it all at the time, as I had it made to measure, changed their standard design to what I preferred and had to travel by train from Newcastle where I was living at the time to Hebden Bridge in Yorkshire so I could discuss what I wanted (we didnt have email in those days!!!) I also paid for my friends train ticket to travel with me and bought her lunch and afternoon tea so it was quite an expensive trip!!! But I agree it would look better painted while its in this room.....

God, I didn't realise just how much Laura Ashley stuff is in here, the wallpaper, chandelier, curtains, clock, wall mirrors, bird photo frame, bedside lamps and shades, storage boxes, mirrored coasters, mirrored box, fabric hearts and even the door knobs on the cupboard are from there. You dont notice until you focus on things to take photos.....
Note to self..... Cut up the L A Account Card immediately.....
When we viewed the house the fireplace was blocked up so I had no idea what was behind there. When we opened the door to our new house for the first time, I ran up the stairs and pulled everything away and YAY! there was the original fireplace intact. In the winter Mr K makes a fire for us before we go to bed. Its bliss to warm our tootsies at the bottom of the bed.....
Hope you've enjoyed the little tour around my boudoir..... I wonder if there is time for a lie down before Mr Kitten gets home!.....
