A Bride To Be

Recently I went on a little day trip that I havn't told you about yet. My friend Sheila is getting married next year in Lancashire and she wanted me to see the venue where it will take place, so it was an early start for me and Mr Kitten as I wanted to make a picnic to take with us and we had quite alot of travelling to do.....

There was plenty of sweet, girly things for me and Sheila including Strawberries and Pink Lemonade. Mr Kitten had Ginger Beer.....Very Enid Blyton! Apologies for the darkness of the above photo, but it was about 5am, it was dark and I was still half asleep, using a sharp knife while making sandwiches in those conditions is not recommended!!!!!.....

Sheila was born in Lancashire but now lives in Newcastle Upon Tyne where I was born and bred. Incase you didn't realise I am a Geordie! We lived next door to each other when I was still living in Newcastle, and I miss her dropping in for coffee or having a chat over the garden fence. The picture above is The Tyne Bridge which for any Geordie or certainly for me will always symbolise 'Going Home', even though I dont live there anymore I will always love the bridge and call Newcastle my home. And so over the bridge we went to get to Sheila's house. Newcastle is an hour and a half journey from my house and then it was another 3 hour journey to get to Ormskirk so we stopped halfway for a Macdonalds Cappuchino and a doughnut from the picnic hamper.....

We arrived at Rufford Old Hall where she will get married. Its a gorgeous building. Its a 16th century manor house now owned by The National Trust set in lovely grounds. We stopped off to take a look around a local museum. Mr Kitten went off ahead of us. I think he was getting sick of us two girls chattering on all the time. Me and Sheila dont see each other often so we had plenty to catch up on. We made our way home past the Saddleworth Moors. Its a huge area that goes on for miles. They are quite eerie, but of course they are infamous with the horrendous Moors Murderers Ian Brady and Myra Hindley in the 1960's, so there is an air of sadness about them despite their spectacular views.....

We had our picnic, it was abit cold so we had to stay in the car. We had Sandwiches, Quiche, Salad, Cheese, Grapes, Strawberries, Cakes, and incase anybody else was still hungry.....Chocolate. Then it was time to go back home. It was a long day but it was a lovely day.....
