On Saturday it was such a lovely day and as Mr K had been called out to work I decided to go out for a ride on my Vespa. I thought I had had my last outing on my bike with the weather being so awful recently, so it was fab having another chance to blast around the farm tracks where I live.....
Do you wanna come for a ride? Okay put on your hat and goggles and hop on the back.....
We are at my front door and if you look ahead as far as you can see, that is where we need to go to climb the steep hills on the horizon. Mr Kitten got my bike out ready for me before he went to work as the garage is further down the hill away from the house and its too heavy for me to push the bike up. Its a 8 year old Piaggio Vespa ET2. I wouldnt mind an old retro Vespa, or a 1960's Lambretta wouldn't be half bad, but my little bike looks quite cute and I can travel about 70 miles on £5 of petrol. I dont go out on main busy roads, only the roads around where I live which aren't very busy, and the back roads are brilliant because the chances of me even seeing anyone else are pretty slim. During the summer I go out most days for a ride and take picnics with me or go out on the moors.....
Now I'd like to tell you I look as glamorous as Audrey Hepburn does, but no, unfortunately I dont. I'd like to look like Penelope Pitstop with an open faced stylish helmet but I wear a Shoei Motorbike one with a visor.....
I probably look more like a Hells Angel!!! The helmet that came with the Vespa was a lovely open faced Italian one, but it was too big as it belonged to a man before me, plus its not a good idea to wear someone elses incase its been knocked or in an accident, so I wear my Shoei one. Mr Kitten has had fast motorbikes since he was 17 so my helmet is the one I bought for when I donned my leathers and rode on the back of his Suzuki GSX-R750.....
Ok, lets start the engine. Are you hanging on tight? I may reach the dizzy speed of 40mph. Down the hill we go, over the bridge, past the vicarage and the farm, and start making our way up the winding road. Up the hill we go climbing higher and higher..... lets stop for a moment and take a look across the valley.....
The next stop is a favourite because the view is spectacular from here.....

Have you had enough rest? Righto..... back on the bike and away we go.....
Phew, its warm. I hope you are enjoying yourself. I could do with a cup of tea so lets start making our way back home.....
I love the smell of Coal fires. Where I live most people use Coal to heat their houses. We dont have any Gas supply. When I have been away and I'm about ten minutes from home the smell of the coal suddenly hits and I know I'm not too far away from my cottage. Once the sun goes down even in Summer it gets very cold here so coming home to a roaring fire is lovely.....
It's lucky I dropped you off earlier because on the way back I fell off my bike Doh! (I'm glad you weren't on the back when that happened LOL!) I swerved to avoid a rabbit and fell off. The bike landed on my left leg. It wasn't too bad just a few bruises, but I thank god no-one saw me fall off so unceremoniously..... What an absolute sight I must have looked, how unlady like! I checked out the damage and looked around to make sure no-one had seen, dusted myself off and got back home to eek out the last piece of the sun by having a cream tea and wondering whether I should tell Mr K.....
When he came home, I waited until it was getting dark (hoping the damage wouldn't look as bad) before I showed him what I had done. He was more concerned about me than the bike, although if I had scraped the car I think that may have been a different matter.....

I had scraped the front and the side.....
I think that is my last ride before the weather turns so it is into the garage, until next year.....
